Orange, Thyme & Maple Salmon

Today we are looking at Salmon – what a beautiful piece of fish!

It is an excellent source of high-quality protein, vitamins and minerals (including potassium, selenium and vitamin B12) but it is the content of Omega-3 fatty acids that receives the most attention, and rightly so. It is this essential fat which is responsible for oily fish’s reputation as a valuable ‘brain food’. Fantastic and all on a Greenplate® Hotplate!

 

Orange, Thyme & Maple Salmon
Ingredients
  • 160 gms Raw Salmon
  • 1 Juice and Rind of an Orange
  • 1 tbsp Sugar Free Maple Syrup
  • 1 tbsp Thyme Leaves
  • Salt & Pepper
Instructions
Salmon
  1. Heat the hotplate on your barbecue to medium heat, (wait for it to warm up before placing fish on hotplate or it will stick)

  2. Place salmon on the hotplate, cook 2-3 minutes each side depending on the size and thickness of your fish.

  3. When colour changes to just over halfway - flip fish and cook for 2 minutes

Syrup
  1. Mix all ingredients and pour over salmon

Time to Beef It Up with Steak & Mushrooms

Today we are using Beef Rump Medallion with an amazing Mushroom Sauce on our Greenplate® Hotplate – Yummy !

RED MEAT – people don’t eat a lot of it these days preferring Chicken, Fish or the other white meat – pork.

Red meat is a great source of iron. It’s good for your red blood cells and zinc levels. It is also a great source of protein for your bones and muscles. 

 

 

Beef Rump Medallion Steak with Mushroom Sauce
Ingredients
  • 1 small punnet mushrooms sliced
  • 1 small clove garlic grated
  • Fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt pepper
  • 2 tbls chicken stock
  • 2 tbls light cream
Instructions
  1. Heat Greenplates® Hotplate

  2. Add Beef Medallion onto the hotplate and cook

Most average size steaks - for medium cooking - 6/2/2 - 6 minutes | Turn 2 minutes | Turn 2 minutes - but always check to how you like your red meat cooked
  1. When the steak is almost cooked, add mushrooms, garlic, thyme to the hotplate

  2. When your mushrooms have browned up, add salt and pepper, cream and stock

  3. Toss the mushrooms to combine the ingredients and serve over your juicy steak immediately.

Double Pattie Chicken Burger Deluxe

Let’s Upsize – Go Big or Go Home – Upsizing these days is on everyone’s list, but it is not always the healthy alternative. With our Double Pattie Chicken Deluxe Burger it’s HUGE but good for you – all on a Greenplate® Hotplate!

 

Double Pattie Chicken Deluxe Burger
Ingredients
The Patties
  • 500 g Chicken Breast mince
  • 2 tsp Masterfood® all purpose seasoning
  • 1 small Onion Diced
  • Salt & Pepper
Inside The Burger
  • Sesame seed bun (60gmweighed
  • 35 gms Sandwich stacker pickles
  • 1 slice Jarlsberg cheese
  • 1 tsp sweet mustard
  • 2 tsp reduced salt/sugar tomato sauce
  • Lettuce
  • Onion
  • Tomato
Instructions
  1. Mix ingredients together and form 6 patties.
  2. The mixture is very sticky, I wore gloves and wet my hands before shaping.
  3. Spray the hotplate with cooking oil and add the patties to the hotplate

  4. Turn after burger is cooked just over halfway and cook the other side

Assemble The Burger
  1. I cut the cheese in half and stacked it between the 2 patties

  2. Assembling is easy !

    Lettuce - Pattie 1 - cheese - Pattie 2 - Cheese - Tomato - Pickles - Mustard - Sauce - Onions

Add Some Vitamins to Your Breakky

Park picnic are so much fun when we get together with family and friends. Having breakfast in the park on the Winter mornings means we all love something that is good for us and fills our belly’s. Why not do it with food that not only tastes great, but is good for you.

 

Veggie Breakky
Ingredients
  • 2 Slices Short Cut Bacon
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Herbs Parsley or Basil
  • 60 gms Low fat Cottage Cheese
  • 2 cups Spinach
  • 1/2 punnet Cherry Tomatoes
  • 1/2 Zucchini diced
  • 1/2 punnet Baby Mushrooms cut in half
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 1 tsp Olive Oil
Instructions
  1. Add oil to the Greenplate® Hotplate and sauté veggies, add bacon to the side

  2. Add the spinach in last few minutes to just wilt

  3. In the meantime Whisk together the eggs, cottage cheese, fresh herbs of choice, salt & pepper.

  4. Once the vegetables are cooked, pour the egg mixture (beside the veggies on the hotplate) & cook over medium heat, moving the mixture around the hotplate until just set, creamy & lush.

Breakfast – Brunch – Lunch – Whenever!

Come the weekend, most of us are busy doing things around the house and garden or events with the children. Healthy meals are important no matter how busy our lives are and a good hearty meal is just the thing to keep us going. This meal is just that.

 

BBL - A Hearty Meal
Ingredients
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 2 slices 40gm bergs short cut bacon (1sp)
  • Halved cherry tomatoes
  • 45 gms Avocado
  • 1/2 tsp black sesame seeds
Instructions
  1. Pour 1 tsp oil onto the hotplate and brush it all over with a pastry brush or a piece of paper towel to get an even coating of olive oil

  2. Start the bacon & eggs first to get them cooking nicely

  3. Add the tomato & spinach last as they take shorter time to cook.

  4. Assemble onto your plate and sprinkle with black sesame seeds

    Why Sesame Seeds?  According to research, they are great for bone health, preventing osteoporosis and best of all, they taste great!

Let’s Go To Hawaii – With Our Tastebuds

Hawaii – What a marvelous place. Some dream about going – Some do it – here we have it on a plate! Hawaiian Teriyaki Chicken with sweet mini capsicums and rice.

Some say – “Oh a barbecue?” We say – “Why Not!”

 

 

Hawaiian Teriyaki Chicken with Sweet Mini Capsicums & Basmati Rice
Servings: 4
Ingredients
  • 4 medium sized Chicken Breasts
  • 1 x @celebratehealth teriyaki marinade available at Coles health food section
  • 1 fresh pineapple cut into wedges save the juice and add it to the marinade
  • 2 packets on Mini Capsicums available from Coles you can use normal capsicums sliced.
  • 1 zucchini sliced
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 tsp garlic olive oil
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
  1. Marinade the chicken breasts in the Celebrate Health® Teriyaki Sauce along with any juice that comes out of the fresh pineapple.

  2. How long you marinade your chicken is completely up to you, the longer the better.

    Place into snap lock bag and keep in the fridge till your ready to leave for your picnic

  3. Cook your rice at home - drain well and add to a container for travelling.

    Hint: Cooking your rice in stock makes it taste yummy!

  4. Add Olive Oil to your Greenplate® Hotplate and grill the chicken along side the pineapple wedges.

  5. On the other side of the hotplate add 1 tsp garlic olive oil or plain olive oil, and stir fry the onion, capsicum & zucchini. 

    Add a handful of mushrooms if you like them

  6. Re-heat rice by adding it to the hotplate for a few minutes.

  7. Serve one chicken breast with stir fried mix over cooked basmati rice & pineapple wedges.
