Evidence of just how well Thin Film Solar Stands the Test of Time
We are frequently asked the question: Just how long will Thin Film Solar Arrays last in an unsupervised public open space. A precise answer is difficult, given that this technology is relatively new in this sort of application. The first solar barbecue of its type produced and installed by Greenplate in the Logan City Council cultural Precinct of The Kingston Butter Factory in 2001 provides some pretty strong evidence that this type of solar array will stand up to just about anything the public and Mother Nature can throw at it. This system has been in operation for over 18 years now and apart from the on/off button on the BBQ, it has performed faultlessly. So, how well does thin film solar stand up in the public domain? Phenomenally well give this great example.
